Wellness FAQ

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions we get about Wellness in the Office of Student Affairs.

If you have any questions or concerns, contact the Learning Specialists at jabsomls@hawaii.edu.

Our Contacts for Support page details JABSOM, University of Hawaiʻi, and community resources that can assist you with your needs and concerns.

Wellness encompasses so many aspects of an individual’s health: physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, socially, financially, and more.  The reality is, when areas of life are off-balance, dysregulation can occur in other areas that would typically not suffer or struggle.  As such, self-reflection, self-care, and accessing care are all critical to strong performance in medical school and beyond.  OSA is here to help facilitate those processes through services we provide and services we refer our students to.

Because JABSOM recognizes Wellness as a critical component of the medical educational journey, many programs and initiatives have been developed in various departments.  There is not necessarily a one-stop-shop for wellness, because many different departments and programs have found their unique ways of supporting a campus culture of wellness.  To get more information about a specific program or initiative, you’ll want to contact the point person for it.
