Scholarships

Scholarships are a great way for admitted students to offset some of the costs tied to attending medical school and reducing the need to take out loans.  There are a range of scholarship opportunities available to the students of JABSOM with most of them being funded through the generosity of various donors.  The scholarship opportunities are listed by categories and all scholarships are subject to fund availability.  We strongly encourage students to apply every year to obtain as much financial assistance possible.

Scholarship applications will be announced to newly admitted incoming MS1 students by the Office of Admissions, and in November to returning MS2-4 students.

Recruitment Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded by the Admissions Committee each year to admitted students to recruit the top applicants to JABSOM.  View additional information by visiting our list of recruitment scholarships.

Scholarships for Continuing Students (MS2-4)

Scholarships for Non-Resident Students

It is highly advised that you also pursue external scholarships to broaden your search for financial assistance.

External Scholarships
These scholarships opportunities come from sources outside of JABSOM from various donors, businesses and organizations.  These scholarships have separate applications and deadlines.  The listing is updated as we receive notices. Check back periodically for updates.  To obtain further information, view our list of these external scholarships.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are receiving any external scholarships, please report them by email to medfas@hawaii.edu.
